How to upload a personal web page using CuteFTP

This page details the procedure of uploading a pre-created web page to Connection One using CuteFTP. The process of developing an HTML document, or the usage of web development software goes beyond the scope of this page.

1. If you do not already have CuteFTP, it is available for download at: www.cuteftp.com.

2. Launch CuteFTP. From the main screen in CuteFTP, hit CTRL + C on the keyboard to load the Quick Connect box.

3. Fill in the Host Address, User ID and Password boxes.

Host Address: ftp.connectionone.net
User ID: Your login name
Password: Your login password

4. After all of the server information is entered, click OK. You will then be prompted with the Connection One verification screen. Click OK to this screen. You are now logged in to Connection One Networks Internet.

5. The window is divided into two panes. The left side is a directory of your local hard drive. The right side is a directory of your web space on the Connection One server. (Note if you enter a subdirectory, the arrow pointing upward at the top of the listing will return you to the main web directory.)

6. Locate the files you wish to upload and drag them (or double click on file) from your local drive (left) across the pane into the remote site (right). This will upload the selected files into your web space. After the file transfer is complete, you will see the files located in the Connection One directory.

7. Your main page or your home page needs to be called index.php. (Windows 3.x users: be sure you use your ftp client to rename the file extension to. html.) By placing an index.php file in the root (/) directory will cause the users main page to appear when a browser hits: http://www.connectionone.net/~username/ or you may have setup a sub domain with us such as yourcompany.connectionone.net

NOTE: We recommend that you create SUB DIRECTORIES to place image files and sound files.
