How to upload a personal web page using WsFTP LE

This page details the procedure of uploading a pre-created web page to Connection One using WsFTP. The process of developing an HTML document, or the usage of web development software goes beyond the scope of this page.

1. If you do not already have WsFTP LE, it is available for download at: www.wsftp.com. WsFTP LE is a free program for noncommercial use. Please read the license to see if you qualify to download the free software.

2. Launch WsFTP LE. From the main screen enter your correct information.

If you have done this already, simply select the connection for ftp.connectionone.net

Host Name/Address: ftp.connectionone.net
User ID: Your login name
Password: Your login password

3. Press the OK button and you will begin to connect to the server listed in the Host Name/Address.

5. The window is divided into two panes. The left side is a directory of your local hard drive. The right side is a directory of your web space on the Connection One server. (Note if you enter a subdirectory, the arrow pointing upward at the top of the listing will return you to the main web directory.)

6. Locate the files you wish to upload and drag them (or double click on file) from your local drive (left) across the pane into the remote site (right). This will upload the selected files into your web space. After the file transfer is complete, you will see the files located in the Connection One remote directory.

7. Your main page or your home page needs to be called index.php. (Windows 3.x users: be sure you use your ftp client to rename the file extension to. html.) By placing an index.php file in the root (/) directory will cause the users main page to appear when a browser hits: http:/www.connectionone.net/~username/ or you may have setup a sub domain with us such as yourcompany.connectionone.net

NOTE: We recommend that you create SUB DIRECTORIES to place image files and sound files.
